Reflections from recent Intermediate Medical Spanish learners:

I thought it was very relevant to the Spanish we will need to no to take care of patients. Angela G.

I enjoyed playing interactive games, such as “apples to apples”, verb “dice”, and matching a symptom to a disease or disease to a test, etc. I think that I will be able to build rapport with my Spanish speaking patients even though I will still need a translator to appropriately and safely provide the best care for these patients.  I am hopeful that even knowing a little Spanish will aid me in building a relationship with my patients and to also verify some of the conversations occurring with the translator. Kelli M.

I really enjoyed the class. We did a lot of interactive activities that kept my interest throughout class. Raleigh was very patient and took the time to teach us things we didn’t understand. At times, there was a bit too much homework. Lindsey V.

I love the conversations and the grammar reviews. Emily M.

I hadn’t spoken any Spanish in years and was a little unsure about diving back into a foreign language in the classroom. I needn’t have worried, though, because Rory and the other teachers at Common Ground International were fantastic are engaging students and making class fun. They listened to us, the students, and customized what they were teaching based on our needs. Learning a new language is difficult, but if you are willing to put a little regular time in you will make noticeable gains in this class. I highly recommend it and hope to return at some point soon!
