Spanish Classes in Mendoza
CGI partners with a local Mendoza language school situated just a few blocks from Parque General San Martín. The school is small and intimate, with eight classrooms, an outdoor patio, and a tree-lined street outside that makes the walk from your host family feel like part of the immersion.
Classes are conversationally focused and taught by professional local instructors who understand that the goal isn’t to memorize grammar rules — it’s to speak. You’ll be placed by level based on a placement exam, so you’re always working at the edge of your current ability. Most classes are small — no more than eight students.
Host Family Living in Mendoza
Living with a Mendoza host family is the cornerstone of the Argentina experience. CGI screens families carefully — for warmth, for the quality of accommodations, and for their genuine interest in hosting international guests. Mate — Argentina’s national drink — is more than a beverage. It’s a ritual, a social practice, and a window into how Argentines relate to one another. Your mate class will teach you not just how to prepare it but the unspoken rules around sharing it — who pours, who passes, what it means to say “gracias” at the wrong moment. Small things, but exactly the kind of cultural fluency that a Spanish class alone can’t give you.

Argentine Spanish: What to Expect
Argentine Spanish — called Castellano — has its own character. The most noticeable feature for visitors is the use of “vos” instead of “tú,” along with a distinctive intonation that sounds almost Italian in its musicality. The Buenos Aires accent is famously thick; the Mendoza accent is much clearer and more accessible.
Don’t worry about whether Argentine Spanish will “confuse” you or make it harder to communicate with Spanish speakers back home. The opposite is true. Exposure to a new regional variant expands your comprehension and your ear. You’ll understand more diverse accents, pick up unfamiliar speech patterns more quickly, and carry the confidence of someone who has had real conversations in a challenging environment.

Argentina as Part of the Full Wine & Patagonia Program
The Mendoza week is the first half of CGI’s two-part Luxury Wine & Patagonia Spanish Immersion program. The second week takes place in Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia — a “traveling classroom” experience of hiking, horseback riding, and glacier exploration, all conducted in Spanish with local guides.
The 2027 program runs in March, with pricing at approximately $16,950 for the full two-week experience. After a week in Mendoza, you’ll arrive in Chilean Patagonia with fresh confidence, a broader vocabulary, and a group of fellow travelers who’ve been speaking Spanish together for a week.
