According to the Oxford Languages Dictionary, Gratitude is…

“The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.”

They say that gratitude can change your outlook on life. It is a skill and a discipline that is to be honed, practiced, and made a habit. It is easy to look around us and see what we don’t have and compare our lives to others. A slight perspective shift, focusing on gratitude can help us appreciate what we do have and return the kindness to others around us.  This way you can learn how to express gratitude.

Leslie: Hey Rory, during the month of November in the United States when people are getting ready for the holidays and to celebrate Thanksgiving we often talk about what we are thankful for. I have a couple of questions for you….

Rory: Ok, ask away…

Leslie: What are you thankful for in general?

Rory: I’m thankful for my family and my health. I have a great family, we are active and we have a lot of fun together. And my health allows me to enjoy fun activities with my family.  What about you?

Leslie: Well, I am also thankful for my family and all the opportunities we have. For example, a favorite family activity that we all like to do is to go skiing together in the winter. All five of us go and this allows us to do something all together, away from technology, in the great outdoors and we get to make memories.

Rory: What is one thoughtful thing someone did for you recently?

Leslie: A few days ago a friend stopped by and bought me a cappuccino. It was unexpected and so kind.
