  1. Patricia Sutherlan Rock, Ed.D.

Practicing present tense and imperative verb forms for the classroom and memorizing present tense verb forms for communicating with students and parents in Spanish is an important way to motivate students and improve student-teacher-parent/guardian relationships in a major way. Common Ground International offers a 5-lesson comprehensive course in present tense verbs (regular and irregular) specifically designed for teachers and presented by una maestra fantastica, Leslie Foster. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this online course, with a large take-away for self-study. I would recommend this course for teachers who are experienced using Spanish in their classrooms, as the course is somewhat fast-paced. Also, keep a dictionary next to you so you can look up words with which you may not be familiar. I had a lot of fun taking this course and look forward to more lessons en el futuro!

This is a great refresher course for present tense verbs, including reflexive verbs and stem-changing verbs. I call it a refresher, because that’s what it was for me. The lessons might feel like they move quickly if you do not have any foundation upon which to build. There is also a strong need for practicing outside of the lectures to really master the concepts and memorize the verbs. Overall though, the presentation is clear, engaging, and explanatory. The verb lists are really great resources and there are short quizzes during each lesson to check knowledge. Would recommend!

  3. Kristen Lewis

Leslie is an engaging and knowledgeable teacher who clearly communicates verb conjugations and forms. Doing so in an electronic format can be challenging, but Leslie’s enthusiasm encourages students to stick with the lessons and put their new knowledge into practice. She provides examples of how to take ownership for learning and practice verb forms on one’s one, and also provides thorough notes, verb lists, and quizzes. You will want to download or print the notes to follow during the videos, which range from 3 to 20 minutes. While the videos are helpful, for best results, expect to put your own time into memorizing verbs!
