This course focuses on learning real-life, relevant Spanish needed in order to communicate with parents/guardians during Parent / Teacher Conferences. The emphasis of this course is to help educators communicate effectively in Spanish with students and parents/guardians who are not fluent in English. 7 foundational online lessons give you the necessary grammar and vocabulary to communicate in Spanish about the following topics:
- Lesson 1: Beginning the conference
- Lesson 2: Talking about student’s strengths and weaknesses
- Lesson 3: Key vocabulary and Verbs to express Academic Performance
- Lesson 4: Academic Performance in math and literacy
- Lesson 5: Communicating ongoing actions – present progressive
- Lesson 6: Positive and Negative behavior characteristics
- Lesson 7: Parent Questions and Support
The 3 LIVE practice sessions for this course will take place on ZOOM during theses times:
Class 1 – Nov. 14: We will practice content from lessons 1 & 2 through role play conversations. In this live session you will have an opportunity to reinforce and use the Spanish that you’ve been learning in these lessons.
Class 2 – Dec. 5: We will practice content from lessons 3-5 through role play conversations. In this live session you will have an opportunity to reinforce and use the Spanish that you’ve been learning in these lessons.
Class 3 – Dec. 19: We will practice content from lessons 6-7 through role play conversations. In this live session you will have an opportunity to reinforce and use the Spanish that you’ve been learning in these lessons.
We believe you have to APPLY what you’re learning! What good is all that head knowledge without opening your mouth, making mistakes and using the Spanish your are learning!!!
One week before the live class, you will receive an email with your lesson to study. You will have one week to study the grammar, vocabulary and phrases and then you will come to the live workshop on Zoom to practice what you’ve been learning!!!
There are many ways to conduct PT conferences. In this course we delve into the vocabulary, verbs and sentence structure you need to touch upon the most important topics during conferences.
We provide you with quick and easy video lessons, downloadable lesson notes, templates, flashcards, quizzes and other activities for further study to acquire these Spanish skills and to test your knowledge.
Who is this course for?:
- This Spanish course is for classroom teachers that need to quickly learn Spanish to communicate during parent/ teacher conferences to their Spanish-speaking students, families, parents and guardians.
- This Spanish course is geared toward the teacher that has a basic knowledge of present tense verb conjugations and needs to acquire the vocabulary to execute conferences in Spanish.

- Paso 4: Application: Implement this Spanish, right now, today in your communication with students, parents and guardians AND in the live practice sessions!
What is the format of this class?
This is a hybrid online course: This course is 100% online and combines asynchronous learning (on your own time) with live classes at scheduled times of the week (over Zoom). Each course includes video lessons, vocabulary lists and practice, online posting boards for regular feedback from your instructor and conversational prompts for further practice.
