Future Tense in Spanish
The future tense describes what will happen. It uses a single set of endings attached to the full infinitive — with just a handful of irregular stems to learn.
When to use the future tense
To describe events that will happen
Viajaremos el año que viene. We’ll travel this coming year.
Ellos comprarán un carro nuevo pronto. They will buy a new car soon.
Tip: the present tense often covers the immediate future
Voy al médico hoy. I’m going to the doctor today.
¿Vienes a mi casa esta tarde? Are you coming to my house this afternoon?
Regular future conjugations
Don’t remove the infinitive ending — attach the future ending to the full infinitive. The same endings work for -ar, -er and -ir verbs.

Irregular future stems
Several verbs use an irregular stem — add the same future endings to it.
