Full Day Trip Exploring Aconcagua National Park Region
Our journey will begin in the morning and we will head westward into the
breathtaking Andes. Following the path of the historic Trans-Andean railway, we’ll wind through
tunnels and three majestic mountain ranges. Along the way, you’ll marvel at the snow-capped
peaks of the Cordón del Plata and the turquoise waters of Potrerillos Lake.
As we follow the Mendoza River upstream, we’ll traverse the scenic Seven Tunnels valley before
arriving in the picturesque mountain town of Uspallata. The stunning landscapes here were
made famous in the movie Seven Years in Tibet. Here, we will take a short coffee break at the
Uspallata Hotel.
Our adventure continues as we approach the Chilean border, where we enter the Aconcagua
National Park. Here, we’ll take a two hour hike to a scenic lookout, passing by the tranquil
Horcones pond with a view of the imposing Mount Aconcagua.
On the way back, we’ll stop at Puente del Inca, a naturally formed bridge spanning a deep ravine.
This site is home to a small artisan market and a historic hot spring complex.
Finally, we’ll return to Uspallata for a traditional Argentine Asado lunch, accompanied by fine
local wines. Our day concludes with a scenic drive back to Mendoza, arriving around 6:30 pm.
For this trip, we will visit 3 major sites. We will have private transportation to get to these sites. For the Aconcagua National Park section, you can expect to walk on hiking trails for 2 hours.
