Day trip to Ingapirca – the largest and most significant Inca ruins in Ecuador.
Date: Saturday, June 21, 2025
Ingapirca is a word in Quichua that means “wall of the Inca”. It is estimated that this area was constructed by the Cañari long before the Incas arrived. The Cañari built the temple of the moon and when the Incas came on scene, they built the templo del sol to complement the templo de la luna. The Inca and Cañari live peacefully together. This is the largest Inca site after Machu Picchu and resides at approximately 10,400ft elevation on the Inca trail. This site is believed to be an ancient solar and lunar observatory site.

A cultural treat with spa racimar views. We got lucky to see a local solstice festival with live music and dancing.
