Certified Spanish Bonus for MMS Owners

Get certified to speak Spanish directly with your patients!

Common Ground’s medical Spanish certification test is now included as a bonus with your MMS registration. This isn’t a translator or interpreter test; it’s designed to assess your direct, bilingual proficiency in a clinical setting. It’s perfect for providers and staff who want to connect with patients without a third party.

What is Certified Spanish?

Many existing tests in the industry focus on interpreter competencies, which aren’t necessarily relevant for direct patient communication. Certified Spanish focuses on the practical application of medical Spanish for healthcare professionals and assesses your ability to communicate directly with patients.

Who is it For?

While the full certification test is best suited for Advanced MMS and maybe some higher level Intermediate MMS students, the platform itself offers valuable resources for everyone. Beginners can greatly benefit from the study tools and terminology building features.

What does the Certified Spanish platform offer?

  • Free Medical Spanish Terminology Tests: You can take unlimited quick (10-minute), normal, or longer tests. These multiple-choice and matching activities are a fantastic way to practice and expand your medical Spanish vocabulary. You’ll encounter questions that test your knowledge on up to 2,500 medical terms.
  • Study Guide Subscription (Optional): For just $9.99 a month, you can subscribe to the study guide and delve into over 2,500 medical Spanish terms categorized by specialty, including anatomy, dermatology, oncology, and more. This feature allows you to:
    • Study by Category: Focus on the vocabulary most relevant to your needs.
    • Choose Your Study Method: Utilize flashcards (Spanish-English or English-Spanish), matching activities, or even test your knowledge by typing translations.
    • Track Your Progress: The study side helps you monitor your improvement and identify areas where you need more practice.

Three Phases to Certification

  1. Phase One (Free): This phase is a comprehensive terminology test with around 100 questions, combining matching and multiple-choice activities. You’ll need to score over 80% to move on.
  2. Phase Two (Free, Personal Recommendation Optional): This phase requires a computer (not a mobile device for best results) and access to your camera. You’ll upload a government ID for verification, as your likeness will be matched to your video responses for certification purposes. Phase two focuses on listening comprehension and verbal responses to patient scenarios. While there’s no “passing” score for this phase, you can opt for a $50 personal recommendation from CGI to get feedback and determine if you’re ready for phase three.
  3. Phase Three (Bonus for MMS Owners): This is the final certification test, and as an MMS course owner, you receive a voucher for one attempt! This phase involves video scenarios where you’ll see and hear patients, and you’ll record your responses. Once submitted, CGI will evaluate your test within a few business days, and you’ll either receive your certification or feedback on areas to improve before retesting.
